The best of Rajasthan and Bharatpur
You don’t want to limit yourself to just one region of India? Would you rather enjoy two different and opposite worlds? This is a 7-day tour that combines the arid regions of Rajasthan with the green and aquatic universe of Bharatpur.
Day 1: Arrival in Delhi
Free meals and overnight in Delhi.
I welcome you upon arrival at the airport and drive you to your hotel. Your visit begins with the medieval part of Delhi. The colour, lively bazaars, bustling streets and Mughal architecture of the old city contrast with the formal splendour of New Delhi, whose wide boulevards offer an ever-changing perspective. Monuments such as the Red Fort, the Jama Masjid Mosque, the Chandni Chowk district and Qutub Minar are part of your visit.
Day 2: From the Taj Mahal to the Chambal River Shrine
Free meals and night in Dholpur.
Departure on the Shatabdi train to Agra. The Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays), a fascinating masterpiece of India, awaits you. Visit of the Red Fort and continuation towards Dholpur on the banks of the Chambal River. You have the opportunity to live in the time of the maharajas, spending a night in a palace that is one of those charming hotels of yesteryear.
Day 3 : Gavial crocodiles and birds
Free meals and overnight in Bharatpur.
During a boat trip on the Chambal River, you can observe many animal species: Ganges dolphins, gavial crocodiles, turtles... The sanctuary is now one of the few places where you can observe the endangered gavials. Walk in the village before leaving for Bharatpur.
Days 4 : The Abhaneri Baori
Free meals and overnight in Jaipur.
You take a rickshaw for a walk in Keoladeo National Park. The ecosystem of this reserve is particularly well adapted to birds. You then drive to Abhaneri where you visit the Baori, a deep water collection basin with sculpted steps. Departure for Jaipur and free time at the end of the day. In the evening, visit the Birla temple and participate in the ceremony.
Days 5: Jaipur and its wonders
Free meals and night in Jaipur.
On the agenda for this day in Jaipur: visit of Fort Amber located on a hill, discovery of the great Jantar Mantar observatory, the Hawal Mahal or wind palace, extension of the City Palace complex. Always occupied by the royal family, the City Palace is one of the most imposing examples of Mughal art and architecture.
Day 6: From the pink city to the painted frescos of the havelis
Free meals and night in Mandawa.
Departure towards the Shekhawati region. The villages are scattered and there is nothing to suggest the presence of beautifully decorated houses built between the 18th and early 20th centuries. It is in these villages surrounded by sand dunes that we find the havelis, houses whose interior and exterior walls are decorated with painted frescoes.
Days 7: From Mandawa to Delhi
Free meals and overnight in Delhi.
Free morning to stroll around Mandawa or rest at the hotel by the pool, before reaching the capital.
